As battery technology advances and costs plummet, coupling solar energy and storage systems will become the norm for all categories of solar energy systems including utility, commercial, industrial and off course stand alone off-grid projects. Advantages of Combining Storage and Solar are 1. Balancing electricity loads to avoid over-generation and grid reliability issues, 2. “Firming” solar generation incorporating short-term storage that can ensure that quick changes in generation don’t greatly affect the output of a solar power plant, and 3. Providing resilience – by providing backup power during an electrical disruption.
